Never Again

I have spent the past week listening to some people feign outrage because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez referred to our child detention centers as concentration camps. Obviously, the point of the faux outrage is to avoid talking about the conditions in the camps but I’ve been pretty frustrated at the response to the outrage.

I’m also irritated by some on the left who think that referring to these centers as concentration camps is either “going too far” or “too polarizing” so we should avoid it. Wrong.

I’m positive you’ve already heard this, but the use of the term “concentration camps” literally fits the dictionary definition. From Merriam Webster: a place where large numbers of people (such as prisoners of war, political prisoners, refugees, or the members of an ethnic or religious minority) are detained or confined under armed guard  —used especially in reference to camps created by the Nazis in World War II for the internment and persecution of Jews and other prisoners.

The term “concentration camp” was coined in the late 1800s to describe camps in South Africa and in Cuba so contrary to the fake Jew outrage by shitty lizard-brained Jews like Ben Shapiro (who fancies himself the Pope of all Jews who gets to speak for all of us at all times), the term isn’t unique to Nazi Germany, nor is using it an “insult to all who lost their lives” because of Hitler’s concentration camps. Claiming that it does, is actually a profound insult to all who lost their lives at the hands of Hitler.

Never again means never again. In order to ensure “never” you stand up right at the beginning. You don’t wait until after the ovens are built.

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

So I say fuck off to everyone who claims that calling concentration camps what they are is going to far, or insults their ancestors. You all have a profoundly ignorant idea of the Holocaust and history at large, and you should all be ashamed of yourselves for trying to turn never again into too soon.

And I’d like to offer a special fuck you to Ben Shapiro, who is trying so hard to get people to unlearn the lessons of the Holocaust for political expedience. Those lessons are the legacy of our ancestors, and you’re a special kind of human garbage for shitting on them in such a vile manner.
